Seventeenth Youth Delphic Games of the CIS Member States

From 6 to 10 of October, 2023 the Seventeenth Youth Delphic Games of the CIS Member States were held in Bishkek, the Kyrgyz Republic. Delphic Games of the Commonwealth of Independent States took place in Kyrgyzstan for the first time. The Games were held in accordance with the Decisions of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States of December 18, 2020 «On declaring 2023 in the Commonwealth of Independent States the Year of the Russian Language as the language of interethnic communication» and of the Council of Heads of Government of the Commonwealth of Independent States of May 29, 2020 «On the main activities of cooperation of the CIS Member States in the field of culture for 2021-2025».

Representatives of 7 Commonwealth countries took part in the Games: the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, Turkmenistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan. Delegations of the countries included more than 600 young talents aged between 10 to 25.

In order to successfully hold the Delphic Games, the Decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic No. 453-r of August 4, 2023 was adopted. On the opening day of the Games the greeting of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov was received.

The President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin has sent his Greetings to organizers, participants and guests of the Seventeenth Delphic Youth Games of the CIS Member States.

The Games were addressed by greetings of the the Chairman of the Executive Committee – the Executive Secretary of the Commonwealth of Independent States Sergey Lebedev, the Secretary General – the Head of the Interparliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States Council Secretariat Dmitriy Kobitskiy, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov, the First Deputy Minister of Education of the Russian Federation Alexander Bugaev, the Secretary General of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly Andrey Belyaninov.

The organization and holding of the Games were carried out by the Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Delphic Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic with the support of the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Interparliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States with the participation of interested authorities of the Kyrgyz Republic and the City Administration of Bishkek. The event was held under the patronage of the International Delphic Committee (headquartered in Moscow).

Competitions of the Games were held in 10 nominations: piano, violin, fine arts, academical singing, solo folk singing, pop singing, folk dance, folk instruments, wind instruments, artistic crafts. The main cultural objects – the Kyrgyz National Conservatory named after Kalyi Moldobasanov, the Kyrgyz National Academic Opera and Ballet Theater named after Abdylas Maldybaev, the Kyrgyz National Museum of Fine Arts named after Gapar Aitiev, the Kyrgyz National Philharmonic named after Toktogul Satylganov, the Central Children's Music School named after Peter Shubin, the Bishkek Choreographic School named after Cholponbek Bazarbayev, etc – were attracted to carry out the nominations of the Delphic Games in Bishkek. Visiting the nominations of the Games was available to all residents and guests of Bishkek.

More than 30 prominent figures of culture and art of the CIS Member States took part in the work of the international jury of the Games. 22 sets of medals were bestowed. Representatives of all participating countries managed to win gold, silver or bronze medals.

Considering the decision of the XXIX meeting of the Council of Heads of State news agencies of the Commonwealth of Independent States dated September 12, 2023, more than 30 agencies and online resources of the CIS countries supported the event. The Games were covered by media of interstate distribution and the Commonwealth countries including 11 television channels, 14 radio stations, print press.
