Thirteenth Open Youth Delphic Games of the CIS Member States

From 15 to 17 December, 2018 the Thirteenth Open Youth Delphic Games of the CIS Member States included into the Plan of events dedicated to the Year of Culture in the Commonwealth of Independent States approved by the Decision of the Council for Cultural Cooperation of the CIS Member States from 3-4 August, 2017 were held in the Saratov region. The Games took place in the form of the First Delphic Championship which laid the basis for a new type of the Delphic competitions. It is symbolic that like the First Russian Youth Delphic Games the event was held in Saratov and opened the celebration of the 20 year anniversary of the Delphic Games.

The event was held in order to practically implement decisions of the intersectional youth platform "Culture and Youth" of the VII St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum on necessity of developing new forms of competitions within the framework of the Delphic Games, expanding integration processes throughout the area of the CIS, introducing youth to culture and art, searching and supporting young talents, forming positive information environment.

It was jointly organized by the National Delphic Council of Russia and the Saratov State Conservatoire named after Leonid Sobinov with support of the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States, the government bodies of the Saratov region; the patronage was granted by the International Delphic Committee (headquartered in Moscow).

The applied mechanism for designating winners allowed to present in practice theoretical views that increase popularity on the possible way of development of culture in the era of art transformation influenced among others by information systems as well as to demonstrate the degree of readiness of the creative field for convergence with related spheres.

Artists from 18 to 25 years old from 7 countries participated in competitions. The competition program was held in 3 disciplines: piano, flute, academic singing.

The jury boards formed in each nomination included 9 prominent artists, People`s and Honored artists, Professors and PhDs of Art History.

The mechanism of holding the competition assumed assigning participants to groups in each nomination on the results of drawing lots. In all rounds contestants would be competed in pairs, in each of the pairs the winner designated according to the results of performances would move to the next round. The representatives of 4 states reached the quarter-final. The winners of two semi-finals participated in the final, competing for first and second places. The losers of two semi-finals became the third place winners each. Winners and prize-winners (1st, 2nd and 3rd places) were awarded with diplomas. The winner of the 1st place - the winner of a nomination - got the opportunity to perform at the official opening ceremonies of the Delphic events of 2019.
